ISB's Compass Quest program invites middle school students to immerse themselves in Chinese culture and acquire L21 skills in a setting that combines fun and experiential learning. ISB's middle school play 'Once Upon a Hutong' invites audiences on an enchanting odyssey into the heart of China. Set in Beijing during the Qing Dynasty, the play tells the story of an emperor's quest for love and his chosen maiden's journey of self-discovery. Written and directed by drama teacher Hannah Northcott, the play was a transformative experience for many students whose confidence grew throughout the creative, collaborative process.

IB History students participated in a discussion on Mao Zedong facilitated by experts Zhang Lijia, Liu Baocheng, and Chris Buckley at The Bookworm in downtown Beijing. The talk, featuring ISB juniors and seniors, was tied to their IB History units on authoritarianism and Mao's involvement in the Cold War.

The International School of Beijing proudly hosted the 2016 APAC Volleyball tournament. A total of six schools participated in this year's competition held from October 20 to 22. APAC Volleyball is about more than just competition, however, with students, parents, and coaches having fun while building friendships.
